Seakeeping Analysis of Ocean Buoy

An ocean buoy used to measure waves, wind, etc. (placed in PLOCAN, Canary Islands) is applied as the case study. Seakeeping analysis is important in assessing the performance of floating structure in waves. To perform Seakeeping calculations, the wave characteristics as well as the response of the vessel are needed. The analysis normally requires reliable computer programs to calculate response amplitude operator (RAO).

Two types of conditions analyzed:

  1. Without anchor lines (frequency-domain).

  2. With four anchor lines (time-domain).
